Top 10 Trending Stories in Cameroon Last Week (Week 3 of February)

A lot of stories kept the Cameroonian social media space buzzing last week and 10 of those stories stood out for us.

10. The Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon trash the Gambian National team 8 goals to 0 during a qualifying match for AFCON 2022 in Morocco. Nothing was more interesting than the scoreline; must have been very humiliating for Gambia.

9. Miss Prestige Cameroon 2017 Amandine Ndzana passes away.

8. Mink’s welcomes a child with his lover and hey! It’s not Blanche Bailly.

7. Cameroonian singer Nablia Rodriquez ties the knot with her longtime lover and father of her son Nicolas Paez.

6. Some of Cameroon’s most anticipated songs of the year dropped last week including Salatiel’s collaboration with Makossa legend Petit Pays titled “ and Kameni’s Jito.

5. FECAFOOT President writes to Cameroon’s Sports Minister reminding him that he has no right to decide whether the current Coach of the National theme Antonio Conceicao stays or go. This was a few days after Minister Narcisse Mouelle Kombi had publicly said the Current Coach will be maintained.

4. Blanche Bailly features Nigerian Afropop sensation Joeboy on her latest hit single titled “Mine.”

3. Jeune Afrique publishes an article announcing former Indomitable Lions Captain Rigobert Song as the new Coach of the Cameroon National Team, appointed by Fecafoot President Samuel Eto’o. Well, the news was later confirmed as FAKE.

2. Cameroonians celebrate Valentine’s Day with their loved ones. We saw pictures of some Cameroonian celebrities spending quality time with their partners. One thing that trended more on Val’s day was some of the interesting yet not so pleasant aftermath stories: the fights and triangles between lovers.

1. The 2022 edition of the Mount Cameroon Race of Hope took place in Buea with 26-year-old Elvis Nsabinla winning the race in the senior men’s category for the first time ever and 24-year-old Tata Carine winning the race in the senior women’s category for the 4th time.
