Cameroonian US-based NBA Superstar has made his country proud yet again as he becomes the first-ever Cameroonian to be named in the NBA finalists. Record-Breaking: Joel Embiid Becomes First Cameroonian To Be In NBA’s Three Finalists.

The NBA in its usual tradition of honoring its player announced the 3 finalists for their six biggest awards on Thursday. Cameroonian professional basketball player, Joel Embiid has been nominated in the Most Valuable Player category alongside Nikola and Stephen Curry.

27-year-old Embiid is the first player from Cameroon to feature not just in the “Most Valuable Player” category but also to be named among the three finalists. And if he wins, he would be Philadelphia’s first winner since Allen Iverson in 2001.  Curry nominated in the same category has already won the trophy twice and if he eventually wins this, he would become the ninth player in NBA history to win the trophy three times.

The other five categories include Defensive Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Sixth Man of the Year, Most Improved Player, and Coach of the Year.
