Libianca Kenzonkiboum Fonji, known artistically as just Libianca, is a Cameroonian-American Afrobeat singer, based in Minnesota, USA. She is best known for her breakout single “People”, which was inspired by her cyclothymia.
In June 2023, Libianca continued to make wavess with her hit “People”, toping several music charts, and streaming platforms in Africa, the US, the UK and more.
Amidst all these wins and achievements, something even bigger came knocking, as the 22-year-old got nominated for the BET awards in the category of “Viewers’ Choice: Best New International Act”, becoming the first ever artiste from Cameroon to be nominated for the awards.
Being the first from Cameroon to be nominated for a BET award was definitely great news but the best was still to come, as she went on to beat heavyweights like Nigerian Asake, to clinch the award, equally becoming the first ever artiste from Cameroon to win a BET award.
In June, Libianca also released another much-anticipated single entitled “Jah”. The follow up piece to “People” is another enthralling piece and the video amassed 200K views on YouTube, in just less than 24 hours and 436K views in two days, after it was first uploaded.
“Jah” also became number one most searched song on Boomplay in less than 24 hours.
Still in June, Libianca became the second most listened African Artiste on Spotify.
After winning her BET Award in June, Libianca revealed the man in her. She took to social media to thank her Ghanaian lover, M3tro, for standing by her, all the while.
