How to deal with Morning headaches.

Many people often wake up in the mornings with a striking pain at the back or front or both back and fore of their head. Some feel this pain by the sides of their head, why others just feel cloudiness around their whole head. This feeling is called an early morning headache. It usually subsides as the day goes by, but it can be an intense discomfort in the early hours of the morning.

So with science-backed research, we give you some techniques to avoid this completely or efficient ways to deal with them if they do occur in the morning.

Just read the health tips below

  • SLEEP

Our night sleeps contribute to how we feel in the morning, our overall health and wellness. Improper sleep patterns and incomplete sleep have been known to be a major cause of morning headaches. Adults are expected to sleep at least eight hours per night, anything short of this can lead to those uncomfortable morning headaches.
Some tips on having a good night rest includes ;

  • Go to bed at similar times every night, so your body learns you go to sleep at that time.
  • Switch of blue lights, that’s lights from most electronic devices.
  • Wear loose clothing and avoid wearing tight nightcaps.
  • Listen to soothing music before bed.
  • Avoid heavy alcoholic drinking at night, since it can affect sleep quality and cause dehydration, and may also cause hangovers in the morning.
  • Don’t take drinks with caffeine a few hours before bed.
  • WATER

A lot of people don’t drink proper amounts of water before bed and even in the mornings. Most experts advise drinking a glass of water (8 ounces) before bed and early in the morning (take note, drinking lots of water at once at any time of the day is not a proper hydration habit).
Dehydration is a major cause of morning headaches and can lead to other complications too and even death in sleep. So drink water, even if you feel thirsty at night wake up from the bed, and go get a glass of water to drink.

  • YOGA

Yoga is an ancient Hindu practice. This art is used to open the body chakras, relax muscles, relieve stress with dozens of other benefits l. All these are good for rest and recovery. It’s been scientifically proven that people who do a few minutes for yoga before sleeping and when they wake in the morning, sleep healthier and experience fewer morning sicknesses.
So why not take out time to do some yoga before bed, it’ll relax your brain and muscles and take away your stress, causing you to sleep deeper and feel well-rested in the morning.

  • CODEINE and PARACETAMOL

They both pain relief drugs. They work by blocking pain signals sent to the brain. When combined together they do an excellent job of repressing headaches. If you’re stress-free and well hydrated and even well-rested and still get morning headaches, you should probably use these drugs. They are over the counter drugs, meaning you can buy them without a prescription. So if you wake up in the morning after a good night’s rest and still feel the numbing pain in the morning, it’s advisable to administer these drugs to yourself.
Take note that codeine is very addictive and can easily get a hold of you, so the administration of the drug should last only a few days.

  • SEE A PHYSICIAN

If you’ve practiced healthy bedtime rituals and morning routines and still get those headaches in the morning, see a doctor as soon as possible. It might be a medical emergency for which you need immediate checkups.

We hope you stay healthy and enjoy your early mornings.
