Cameroonian Legendary Footballer and former indomitable Lions Captain, Samuel Eto’o has promised to give 1 million FCFA each to every Intermediate Lion who scores at the 2020 African Nations Championship (CHAN) currently taking place in Cameroon. Eto’o Pledges 1 Million FCFA To Every Player Who Scores For Cameroon At CHAN 2021.
The promise comes after the disappointing 1 – 1 draw on Tuesday, January 20, 2021, between the Intermediate Lions of Cameroon and the Intermediate Eagles of Mali at the Amadou Ahidjo stadium in Yaounde. The promise is expected to boost the morale of the players who have so far have not been very prolific throughout the tournament.
The intermediate Lions have so far played two matches between Zimbabwe and Mali, recording a win and a draw, 2 goals scored and 1 conceded.
While some Football fans have applauded Eto’o’s move because they think it is going to encourage the players to work harder, win the matches and perhaps the tournament, others think it may just bring disunity and lack of team spirit in the team as every player will selfishly want to get the goals. To them, promising to give the money to the entire team would have been a better idea. After all, it would be almost impossible for the goalkeeper and defenders to score goals.
