Embarrassing: Lights Go Out At The Bepanda-Douala Stadium During CHAN Match

Spectators have been taken aback at the Bepanda stadium in Douala after lights went out during one of the matches at the ongoing African Nations Championship in Cameroon. It is not clear what exactly led to the lights out but the lights were restored soon enough for the match between Rwanda and Uganda to commence. However, reacting to the incident, most football lovers in Cameroon think it was definitely one embarrassing incident that could have been avoided. According to them, if something as basic as lights can go out during a match in the country’s biggest city, then it only goes to show the country didn’t prepare adequately for the event. This is not the only embarrassing incident that the country has witnessed since the championship began on Saturday, January 16. Just a day after the official opening, one of the teams reportedly missed training because the transport company in charge of transporting the players was on strike for money owed them.



Cameroon is currently hosting the African nation’s Championship (CHAN), a 24-team-format tournament organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and is played between the best national teams of Africa, exclusively featuring players who are active in the national championships and qualified to play in the ongoing season.
