AWCON Heavyweights, the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon have failed to qualify for the Women’s African Cup of Nations (AWCON), for the first time since 1992.
The Indomitable Lionesses were butted out by the Harambee Starlets of Kenya, in their second AWCON qualifier this Tuesday.
In 90 minutes of regular play, the Lionesses were beaten by Kenya 1 – 0.
This took the aggregate score to a 1-1 draw as Cameroon had beaten Kenya 1-0 last week.
The Harambee starlet of Kenya seized the chance in a penalty shootout and defeated Cameroon 4:3.
Cameroon’s ranking in Africa is 3rd, while Kenya’s ranking is 28th. This is really disappointing for Cameroon. An AWCON without Cameroon.
