CAF Opens Investigations On Witchcraft Allegations In Cameroon.

Just before the opening match between Cameroon and Zimbabwe, Coach Zdravko Logarusic shared a photo of what looked like a dead bat which was seemingly placed at the center spot of the halfway line on the pitch that was going to host the opening match. According to Logarusic, that was “Witchcraft in Cameroon.”

The Intermediate Lions of Cameroon went on to beat the Intermediate warriors of Zimbabwe, 1 -0, thanks to the amazing goal from Salomon Banga.

A sports website, Goal has reported that CAF has said though issues of witcraft are not their prerogative, they have launched an investigation into the allegations and if any party is found guilty or there is a breach of the regulations of the tournament, appropriate sanctions will be handed out accordingly.

This is not the first time that Cameroon has been accused of using witchcraft or charms to influence a game. In the AFCON 2002 semi-final between Cameroon and Cameroon, the Indomitable Lions Coach at the time, Winfried Schafer, and goalkeeping coach Thomas Nkono were arrested by the riot police after allegedly placing a charm on the pitch ahead of the game.
