Black Stars Captain Andre Ayew To Appear Before Ghanaian Parliament Over Poor AFCON Performance

The 33rd edition of the Total Energies African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2021 played in 2022 in Cameroon is now over. It was a great showdown but definitely disappointing for some countries who were kicked out of the competition in the group stages.

One of those countries is four times African Champions Ghana who bowed out after failing to win even a single match and was still suffering a humiliating 3-2 defeat against Comoros.

Ghanaian parliament has invited the Captain Andre Ayew, the Sports Ministry, the Ghana Football Association, and the National Sports Authority for questioning.

Chairman of Parliamentary Committee on Youth, Sports and Culture, Johnson Kwaku Adu has said Andre Ayew will appear before an investigation team as the country looks for solutions to the poor AFCON performance.

Parliament will start investigation from the 16th to the 18th of February, as all stakeholders have been given an invitation to appear before the sports select committee. Andre Ayew’s involvement with club football in Qatar, he is likely to answer questions via zoom.

This is particularly important as the Black Stars are preparing to face the Super Eagles of Nigeria during the World Cup qualifiers this March.
