The Bank of Central African States (Beac), is currently making the final adjustments to the circulation of its new monetary project in accordance with the discharge received on October 2, 2019, from the Ministerial Committee of the Central African Monetary Union (UMAC). BEAC putting into circulation new banknotes and coins.
Beac is the issuing institution of the six CEMAC countries in Africa; Cameroon, Congo, Gabon, Chad, RCA, and Equatorial Guinea.
In recent days, specimens of the new banknotes have been circulating on certain platforms. But for the time being, in the absence of a formal confirmation from the central bank, it is quite difficult to say that these specimens are indeed the new range that Beac is about to put into circulation or simply the samples on which the central bank has been working on as part of the ongoing project since 2019.
On these new banknotes, one can clearly see the wish of Beac to promote for the first time all that official languages in force on the Cemac Zone. These include; French, English, Arabic (Chad), and Spanish (Equatorial Guinea).
Some sources go further as to announce the arrival of 250 FCFa coin will be put into circulation.
Beac banknotes have experienced a variety of changes which have taken place every after 10years, with the exception of 2012 as the last range was introduced in 2002.
The fundamental question remains the date on which the new denominations and coins will be released. According to Beac, the putting into circulation of the new monetary signs should not delay.
